About this event

The Suffolk energy-from-waste facility processes 295,000 tonnes of domestic and commercial waste each year – generating enough electricity to power 50,000 homes. Our objective is to provide an alternative to waste being sent to landfill and reduce the associated cost to Suffolk tax-payers, turning non-recyclable waste into energy.

The visit is expected to take between 1.5 and 2 hours; it will include a short presentation, a tour of the facility and a chance to visit our visitors centre. Please arrive 10 minutes early to ensure a prompt start to the tour.

Please be aware that the tour involves a 1.5km walk including over 300 stairs. The tour involves a climb of 23 metres and several mesh walkways. The tour is not suitable for people with mobility issues or vertigo.

Dress code

• During the tour, full length trousers must be worn at all times for safety. Shorts, skirts or dresses are not permitted.

• Please ensure you wear sturdy, sensible footwear - i.e. walking boots or trainers. Sandals, flip flops or heeled shoes are not suitable.
